Why this exists
The problem we kept running into
Working in IT and security across Namibian organisations, the same pattern kept appearing. The organisation had firewalls, antivirus and backups. What it did not have was anyone watching. Nobody could answer a simple question: is anything unusual happening on our network right now?
The options available were unsatisfying. Building an internal security operations centre requires analysts who are scarce and expensive here, and platform licensing that scales badly against a Namibian budget. Buying monitoring from abroad means sending your security telemetry to a platform operated in another jurisdiction, and escalation arriving from a team several timezones away who have never heard of your regulator.
Vanguard is the third option. A platform engineered here, operated by people in the same country and the same timezone as the systems they are protecting.
How we position this
We describe Vanguard as a security operations platform built in Namibia. We do not claim to be the first security operations centre in the country, because we are not - other Namibian providers have operated security services for years, and several do good work.
What we do claim is specific: the platform itself is engineered here rather than licensed in and resold, which is what lets us tune detection to what we observe locally, keep telemetry under local operation, and price it for this market.

Tech49Originals delivers cybersecurity, software engineering, web development and IT infrastructure services to organisations across Namibia. Vanguard is its security operations platform - the product through which its managed security services are delivered.
That relationship matters commercially. Vanguard is not a startup with a disappearing runway; it is built and operated by an established local company with an existing customer base and an office you can visit.

How we work
Operating principles we actually hold ourselves to
These are drawn from running a production security operation, and several were learned the expensive way.
A finding you cannot prove three ways is a hypothesis
Conclusions are verified by multiple independent methods with a control case. A test that returns the same answer for the positive and the negative case proves nothing, however reassuring it looks.
Never silence a failing check
If a check fails, we establish the cause before editing anything to make it pass. The check is usually right, and a suppressed check is a blind spot with a green light on it.
Report outcomes faithfully
If a check failed, we say so and show the output. If a step was skipped, we say which and why. On this kind of platform your trust in the alerting is the product, and a confident wrong answer costs more than an unfinished feature.
Gate anything destructive
Actions that change the state of your systems are dry-run, asserted against the expected result, and aborted on mismatch. Anything genuinely disruptive requires your authorisation, not ours.
Where we are
An honest statement of maturity
Vanguard is in active service and in active development. The detection, endpoint, vulnerability, integrity, deception, response and reporting capabilities are operational today. Network detection, threat hunting, threat intelligence and security automation are being rolled out, and are available on request with per-environment tuning.
The customer portal described on this site as the eventual single interface is not yet generally available. Today, reporting and escalation reach you through agreed channels and scheduled reports rather than a self-service dashboard.
Every capability listed across this website carries its real status, and we would rather lose a deal to a more mature platform than win one by describing something we have not built as though it already exists.
